A greener than green future for all

FPS has recently acquired two more container vessels “FPS Rijn” and “FPS Waal” to add to our inland shipping fleet and they join “FPS Maas” on the same transformational journey to become zero-emissions vessels. We are opening up zero-emission container slots and making zero-emissions shipping accessible to everyone. Our fleet of vessels is already available for charter and cargo owners and shippers can book now to ship their cargo in zero-emissions container slots along the Rhine with us in 2023.  Zero means zero. You can assure your customers that their cargo will be shipped with zero-emissions when shipped with Future Proof Shipping. It’s time to “Get to Zero”!

Operational profile measurements of an inland container vessel and sizing of fuel cells and hydrogen storage

We, Future Proof Shipping (FPS), chose to retrofit our inland vessel the Maas to full zero-emission technology by replacing the existing internal combustion engines with hydrogen fuel cell technology. Proper sizing of fuel cells is crucial for this project. We measured the power profile of the vessel for several months to ensure that we had a deep understanding of the operations. The power profile includes power demand of the main propulsors together with hotel load and auxiliary power demand. This white paper shows the results of our measurements and presents the basis for the selection and sizing of the fuel cells and hydrogen storage. These results can also be used as reference values for other similar inland container vessels. Download the full paper

FPS Secures Landmark Recommendation from the CCNR to Sail on Hydrogen

The Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine (CCNR) has recommended that Future Proof Shipping’s (FPS) motor cargo vessel “Maas” receives an exemption from the Rhine Vessel Inspection Regulations (RVIR), permitting the use of hydrogen as a fuel for propulsion and power supply on board the vessel. Another key milestone has been achieved along FPS’s journey toward zero-emissions shipping. Having completed a detailed Hazard Identification (HAZID) study with their classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR), the CCNR recommendation was the next target on FPS’s radar. In mid-June, the good news was shared with a jubilant FPS team.
