Our first vessel, the Maas, will be retrofitted to run on hydrogen in 2021.

The Maas is a 110 * 11,45 m inland container vessel, typical of the vessels that sail on the Rhine.
During the retrofit, the internal combustion engine will be removed, and the new zero-emissions propulsion system, including fuel cells (825 kW), batteries (504 kWh), an electric motor and hydrogen storage will be installed on board.

The vessel will operate between the Netherlands and Belgium, and is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 2000 tons CO2e annually, through the use of green hydrogen instead of MGO.

Our partners in this project include BCTN Network of Container Terminals and Holland Shipyards Group.

The project is supported by funding from the Interreg North Sea Region Programme,  the Port of Rotterdam and the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (project links below).
